The two-week format allows time for each child to choose some “electives” from a variety of options appropriate for different age and skill levels.  Highly qualified professionals lead these sessions in a small group setting designed to promote lots of individual attention.  All sessions focus on the fun of exploring these central themes:

  • music appreciation –  listen to different musical styles, learn cool facts from the history of music, and learn to recognize different instruments from the orchestra
  • music as a form of artistic expression – play, sing, dance, act, and design and make props and costumes for a student-inspired and student-created musical theater performance
  • making music – try out the piano, recorder, guitar, violin, and drums, and create your own original musical instrument
  • Have lots of fun and make new friends!

  • combining music with other art forms – help create and produce an original musical theater performance, choosing your role as set designer, costume designer, actor, singer, dancer, accompanist, writer or composer
  • development of musical skills –  enhance your ability to sight read, analyze music, and master music theory through a variety of interactive group games, individual computer games, and  piano lab activities
  • making music – play and perform in an ensemble; take advantage of the opportunity to perform in a solo recital; try conducting; experiment with  the piano, recorder, guitar, violin, and drums; and create an original musical instrument
